Introducing something like that so early kind of fucks you over, because now you have to figure out a way to not make "just stop time lol" be the best way out of every bad situation. The problem I have with this is that there's a character introduced in the first episode who has time stop powers, which is clearly the most overpowered power you can get. Of course, since this is just like Madoka, using the magical powers shortens your lifespan, so you shouldn't use them too often. If she handed the gun to someone else, that other person should be able to teleport things, too. For example, our protagonist has a gun that teleports things. They're physical objects and it seems like anybody can use the objects. The way the magical powers work is kind of weird, too. Maybe the manga does a better job of establishing how the whole system works, but most of the time it's hard not to think about how similar this stuff is to Madoka and how much of a better job Madoka did with the "edgy magical girl" shit. In Magical Girl Site, the jannies of some deep web site give magical powers to depressed girls, and they're supposed to use those powers to hurt people, and somehow that makes the jannies more powerful? It comes off as a lot more vague and generic. the wishes and the aliens that made it feel like more than five minutes of thought were put into the premise. Madoka had the whole thing with the soul gems and That's basically how the rest of the show goes, things happen but you can't take them seriously because they're too ridiculous or they just don't make sense. The first episode is essentially just a series of unfortunate events happening to our protagonist (the most pathetic person alive) and it's hard to take it seriously because it's so over the top. The premise of this show is that it's Madoka except trying to be even more edgy without understanding why Madoka is a decent show in the first place (when you ignore the godawful final episode). This duo has a lot to do: not only do they have to fight alongside and against other magical girls, but they also need to uncover the truth behind the website and the apocalyptic event known as "The Tempest" that is soon to occur. However, when she finds herself in trouble again, she is saved by Tsuyuno Yatsumura, a classmate who can use magic to stop time. But this time, desperate for anything to save her, she uses the gun-and her assailants are transported to a nearby railroad crossing, where they are run over.Īya's conscience is unable to handle the fact that she murdered two of her classmates with magic, and she desperately tries to understand the situation. Deciding to take it with her, she soon runs into her bullies once again. At first, she dismisses it as a creepy prank, but when she finds a magical gun in her shoe locker the next day, she doesn't know what to believe. One night, as she lies awake wishing for death, a mysterious website called Magical Girl Site appears on her laptop, promising to give her magical powers. She is bullied relentlessly at school, and at home, her older brother Kaname physically abuses her to relieve the academic stress put on him by their father. Every day, Aya Asagiri thinks about killing herself.
